Tambuwal, the President and The Police FORCE

Since Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, defection from the People Democratic Party to the main opposition party in the country, the All Progressives congress, APC, 0n the 28th Octobet 2014, many wouldn't argue at that moment that there was not going to be an uproar between him and the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan.

Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal whose primary reason for defecting to the APC is strongly channeled to the interest of the people of Sokoto, has cause unrest in the presidency.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan must have vowed to match him action with action.

It was learnt from Sunday vanguard that Lawmakers in the House close to the President revealed that the president have vowed to tackle Tambuwal  with all available legal means.

The police are not left out in all this mess going on between Tambuwal and GEJ.

It is no longer news in Nigeria that in times of Political battle, either the Police or the Army can be a formidable machinery to oppress one another.

What happened, last Thursday November 20, 2014 when the police attacked the hallowed chamber and thus prevented the House from reconvening was seen by many as a plot designed to frustrate the moves by APC Reps from presenting an impeachment notice against Jonathan.

Sunday vanguard also confirmed that The PDP Reps also had their joker to counter the moves by invoking the relevant sections of the House rule to unseat the Speaker.

One of the sources said that ‘’ the meeting we PDP Reps had on Wednesday night was to plan how to frustrate any attempt by the APC Reps to present the impeachment notice”.

their plans was to raise an order of privilege on the floor of the House that would give them the leverage to ask Tambuwal to step aside, creating a room for his deputy Emeka Ihedioha, to preside, leaving an opportunity for them to institute an impeachment proceedings against him.

A move they believe that the Inspector General of Police, Sulaiman Abba, destroyed when he thought otherwise and invaded the National Assembly under  the guise of protecting national interest.

“Where did the police, for God’s sake, get the intelligence report that hoodlums were going to attack NASS? Did you see any hoodlum except the hooded men in black uniform?. “He has now pushed us to the level of carrying out damage control measure because his action has jeopardised our plan to shove aside Tambuwal. “It is painful as we have to hatch new plans to checkmate the Speaker. “ The President should act fast by asking  the IGP to resign. “We had convinced him to have faith in us as we were capable of impeaching the Speaker once he steps aside for his deputy to preside because he couldn’t be a judge over his own case.''    Some of the PDP Reps cried out.

If we can recall in several case where GEJ had Faith on some of his trusted men and ended up being disappointed; the Governors forum is an example.

“But from what happened today (last Thursday), we may have to go back to the drawing board to design fresh plots. “Some of us are not particularly happy because the office of the number four citizen of this country was denigrated by the IG and his men”. “Tambuwal’s name one day will be written in gold by this singular act of impunity perpetrated by the IGP”. The ‘GEJ must go’ project Immediately Tambuwal defected, t

The APC Reps who appear better organised than their PDP counterparts, had a ready made answer to the situation. They started collecting signatures that would enable them plot for the President’s impeachment and counter any plan to oust the Speaker in which it is rumoured that over 200 signatures have been signed.

Consequently, they held meetings in different locations in Abuja. An APC lawmaker who chairs one of the most sensitive committees in the House, told Sunday Vanguard that immediately Tambuwal defected, “we already had our game plan as to how to counter any PDP plot to remove the Speaker”. “He went on: As we speak now, we are already gathering signatures that will enable us start throwing articles of impeachment against the President. “We will continue to fight the cause of the Speaker till the end of this Assembly.

One thing you can’t take from thoes in the APC is that they believe in themselves than the PDP Reps do in themselves.

“We are always one step ahead of our PDP counterparts because our dedication is unshakable. “And if the Deputy Speaker had presided today, while Tambuwal was around, we would have immediately moved to impeach Jonathan. “It would have been one of our easiest tasks as APC Reps would have mobilised all the members to perfect the impeachment”. “The man was lucky that such thing never happened because we were ready to exchange fire for fire on the floor of the House”. Sunday Vanguard reliably gathered that the presidency got wind of the APC impeachment plot and decided to use the police to avert it.'' An APC member said.

House Committee Members yesterday   26 November 2014, walked out on the Inspector general of police, Sulaiman Abba, after he refused to address Speaker Aminu Tambuwal properly when he appeared before the House of Representatives Police Committee.

After several days of ignoring their invitation According to Sahara Reporters ; while trying to explain why his men invaded the National Assembly last week thursday, the IGP said

'they had credible intelligence that some thugs had planned on causing mayhem at the resumed sitting of the house." Now here's where it gets interesting.

The IGP said 'one Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal led a group of thugs to overpower the security at the first gate. A move he claimed led the police to lock down the second gate and fire a canister of teargas.

His reference to the “Speaker of the House as “one Alhaji Tambuwal” made the committee members upset and angry that they interrupted him and asked that he properly, in accordance with the existing protocol address the speaker of the house, a move IG Mr Abba countered saying

'the case of the speaker was in court and as such he wouldn’t like to comment further on it''.

The committee member refused to proceed with the hearing until the IGP properly addressed the speaker. They said as long as he refuses to do so, they too would no longer recognize him as IG ....laughable but true.

They argued back and forth and the members walked out on the IGP.

I'm not a law student, but I know that RT. Hon Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal remains speaker untill he his impeached or removed by the court of justice and same is the IGP.

God bless Nigeria; my father's land.
